05.17.08 Sea World

We got up bright and early on Saturday May 17 and drove 2 1/2 hours to Orlando to meet Chris' brother and his family at Sea World! We had such a great day with them! The shows were incredible, and we sure enjoyed introducing them to our newest little man. Grant took up with Aunt Anita really quickly, and he was enthralled with the dolphins and whales. He was so cute...he'd clap so emphatically at the end of the shows and squeal with glee, "YAAAAAAYYYY!" It was very cute. I found myself choked up several times as I watched him experience the joy of discovering this part of God's creation. Chris, Grant and Martin sat in the "Soak Section" at Shamu's show. They were completely drenched by the end of the show, and very glad that they sat up front to get cooled down a bit from the hot day. Todd, Anita and I sat where we could stay dry and were all laughing when we saw Shamu splash right where we knew they were sitting. I sure wish I could have seen Grant's surprised reaction to that!

My Worley Boys are so much fun!

Here are a couple of videos that I took last week - sorry it took so long to get them up on our blog. Somehow, time has been getting away from me! We've been so busy! Mason is interacting quite a bit now - smiling, sticking out his tongue and talking to us. He's trying to laugh, too, but he hasn't quite mastered that. Grant is a big laugher. He's so happy most of the time and has the most contagious laugh. The other night, Chris was changing him and Grant was laughing hysterically. Chris was pretending to gag because he was pretending that Grant's feet stunk. I pulled out the camera towards the end and caught a few good giggles.

HOG Heaven

Today was quite the day in the Worley Household...Chris became a Harley Man...a 2007 Harley Sportster 883XL! That's right...in efforts to save money on gas, Chris got a great deal from an old lady who purchased a Harley last year, even though she's on oxygen 100% of the time. She only put 60 miles on it and now has to get rid of it - Doctor's orders. So this doctor is a happy boy! He rode it 105+ miles today alone. He truly is in HOG heaven! On our way to get the bike, we had to stop by the world's largest Harley Davidson shop where Chris purchased (with the help of his parents for his birthday) a new riding jacket. Apparently it's 3 jackets in one. Chris is excited.

Mother's Day

My boys treated me so nicely for Mothers Day! I awoke on Sunday morning and Chris and Grant were gone. They came back in just as I was finishing feeding Mason and Chris said, "did you hear anyone in our front yard last night?" Noooo... Evidentally, someone had peeled out in our front yard, leaving huge muddy tracks in our yard. Oh no! So he made me go outside in my pajamas to see it. Well, there were not muddy tracks at all! He and Grant had gotten up early to draw all over the sidewalk for me. It was so sweet. I also got about a 2 hour nap in, which never happens. Chris took the boys so I could rest! What a lovely day! My "real" Mother's Day present, however, (as if that's not enough!!!) is that we're going to Disney World, Sea World and a Pirate Dinner Theater in Orlando next weekend. Since Chris is starting his residency, it's our last "hoorah" before we don't get to spend as much time together. We're so excited! Chris' parents sent a little care package for us, too, which included a nice tribute to Mother's Day. In this package were several new outfits for the boys. Aren't they cute!

In light of Mother's Day...

I must say in light of Mother's Day that there is nothing in this world that brings me quite as much joy as a mother as watching my boys discover this world. The joy that it brings to them brings laughter and smiles to my life, making me see the world in a new light. A child's eyes are wonderful things. They find joy in such obscure places. But when they do, it makes me stop, listen, and find joy in the very things I have previously neglected, ignored and seen as mundane. I thank the Lord for giving me these boys to open my eyes again to the warmth of a smile, and bringing bubbling laughter at the "mundane" into my life. Mason is smiling now. He has been for a couple of weeks. But oddly it seems that the rest of the world disappears when he wakes up in the morning, looks at me and bursts into a huge smile of recognition and love. It truly makes my day. And watching him interact with Grant makes me feel like my heart is smiling - do you know that feeling? When such joy wells up within you that your entire chest feels like its smiling? Its a wonderful feeling. Grant is into everything as usual. He loves to laugh, and he loves to play with his dog. Somehow it never gets old to hear his boistrous giggle, which is heard at the end of this video. I wish I could have gotten him on tape a few moments before I pulled out the camera. He was laughing so hard (and so were we) that we were all crying. He brings such joy into our home. (Sorry about the mess the house is in - we were still in the midst of unpacking). Thank you, Lord, for the gift of motherhood. I find such joy in my boys, and because of them, will never be the same.

Mason

Mason has been getting so big! He's so much more alert now. He makes eye contact and smiles and coos. He feels so much more solid and seems to be quickly becoming a "big boy." He's still a fairly good sleeper, though he prefers to be held, making it very difficult to get him to go to sleep initially. Overall, though, he's a wonderful baby. We're so glad to have him as a part of our family!

Grant had a ball today! Chris took him on a long bike ride (in the 90 degree heat) and then came back and they washed the van together. I went outside as they were beginning to wash the car and Grant was already drenched from head to toe. He was as happy as could be, and just hopped along right next to Chris the entire time. By "hopped along," I truly mean just that - he would jump in excitement wherever Chris went. It was cute.

Our New Home

I am sure that this post will not be too entertaining to some of you, however, we have lots of family that lives so far away, so we wanted to give you a tour of our new home! We don't have all of the pictures up on the walls, you'll find things out of place, etc, but at least it'll give you an idea of where we're at! Soooo....Welcome to our home!
