Oh, what a couple of weeks!

Wow - how time does go so quickly. We have been so busy lately, making the time go even quicker. The movers came to our house on Monday, April 28. They went right to work, and I took Grant and Mason to the mall in Roanoke to the indoor play area since it was cold and rainy. Great day to move! :-) Despite the yucky weather, they had everything completely packed and loaded in the truck by 5:30. I took the boys over to a sitters (thanks, Kim - you're wonderful!) for a couple of hours and Chris and I cleaned the place really well since we were turning in the keys on Tuesday morning. We slept on the floor that night - it was quite interesting. Grant started out in his pack-n-play, but woke up quite afraid since he was in a big empty room by himself, so I brought him in and laid him down between us, and he slept great. Chris and I, on the other hand... After turning in our keys Tuesday morning, we drove the three hours to NC and spent the afternoon and evening with my sister and brother-in-law. We went to Ben and Jerry's for their free ice cream scoop day, and watched a movie on a great projection system that they shined on their wall in their family room. It was a great treat to see where they're living. Stefi has set up a lovely home. And of course, Uncle Dan was lots of fun to play with, as always. Wednesday we arose bright and early to begin the long trek to Jacksonville, FL, where we had to meet the property manager to pay our rent and pick up our keys for our new home. TWe left at 7:00 AM. The boys were absolutely wonderful. Grant was an angel the whole way (with only a 45 minute nap all day) and Mason slept the entire day. He didn't even wake up until we had made our planned stops, making feeding him very convenient. Nonetheless, the trip from NC to Jacksonville took 10 hours. It was a long day. Once we got to Jacksonville, we went to our new home to check things out and realized that we had a lot more cleaning that we had bargained for. We were very disappointed. Though we had all been very happy thus far, after spending about an hour at our new home checking things out, we loaded everyone back up in the van and we all grumpily made the trip down to Chris' parent's place in Melbourne, FL, since our things were not scheduled to arrive until the following Monday. Getting back in the car was the last thing we wanted to do. But the 3 hour trip turned into a 4 hour trip, and we finally pulled in to their driveway around 10:00 that night. We spent the next day playing, which was fun. We got to go to the pool, and Grant enjoyed it - from a distance. It was a bit scary to be in it all the way. Mason stayed out of the sun with mom, and Grant and Daddy played. We came back to Jacksonville on Friday, cleaned the house really well Friday night and the movers came Saturday afternoon. Everything went fairly well, until one of the guys decided he wanted to be a he-man and tried to bring our couch off the truck by himself. Well, as he was trying to load it on to the ramp, it tipped, and fell clear to the ground below. I was watching it in slow motion with my hand over my mouth and a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. The couch was damaged and it looks like we'll be getting a replacement. We worked so hard saving money for two years to buy that thing. It was the first piece of furniture we bought together. Ugh. Since Saturday, we've just been busy unpacking our new home. It's taking shape fairly well. We actually hung some pictures today. It's nice to have the extra space. I think we'll enjoy it here. We took advantage of the back yard this afternoon, allowing Grant to get outside, and giving ourselves a break from the unpacking. We were given a great swimming pool, along with swimming trunks and all sorts of beach toys when people found out we were coming to FL, so we pulled it out and had a blast! Mason is getting so very big and changing every day! Mason's first moments in a swimming pool. Grant thought it was great fun to splash Mason, but Mason wasn't too keen on that idea! Grant desperately wanted his daddy in the pool with him. So Chris put his feet in but that wasn't good enough. Chris ended up completely submerged! What we won't do for our children... Running through the sprinkler PS I'll put pictures up of the house after we have everything put away. I'd hate for you to see our messes right now! Ha! :-)

Sara,
I'm so glad you guys arrived okay and that things went relatively smoothly for you. I've been praying for you and your guys. :)

Your little pool looks fun. Grandma and Grandpa would get in it with Grant!

Guessing that Chris wasn't the "He-man" you're referring to in the couch incident. That stinks! Glad that everything else went smooth.

So sorry to hear about the tragedy with the beautiful red couch!
Keep an eye on Craig's List in Jax for fun outside toys and yard equipment. It looks like you have plenty of space for them!
