12.13.08 Christmas in Hemming Park

We had a great day today. In fact, Chris and I both said at the end of the day that it was our favorite day in a very long time. It was so nice to just have our little family and prepare to celebrate Christmas. We started out by frosting sugar cookies to take to Chris' Office Party tonight. Chris, Grant and I all had fun frosting. Although Chris made his to look like various body parts...I'm not so sure about that, but he thought it was funny! :-)
After we finished with our cookies, we hopped in the car and drove downtown to Hemming Park where they were having all sorts of activities for families. Well, we walked around for a few minutes, but it was so crowded and the lines were so long, we decided to walk down to the Landing and see what was going on down there. The highlight at Hemming Park was the horse-drawn carriage. Grant was enthralled with it every time it came around. He got to throw a "snowball" at a bunch of nutcrackers and see how many he could knock over, which was fun, and Mason was happy to just sit in the stroller and take it all in.
Down at the Landing, they had a Tuba "Orchestra" getting ready to play a Christmas Concert. There were 118 Tubas that comprised the group, and we really enjoyed listening to their music for a while. It was fun. We grabbed a couple of breadsticks and a drink from the foodcourt to snack on while we listened, and Grant enjoyed chasing the pigeons. Once the music started, Grant was enthralled. He kept talking about how fun our "party" was - I had told him we were going to have a day full of parties, and he was thrilled!
