Update on life

We spent the entire month of May with Chris in Camp Lejeune, NC, a marine base outside of Jacksonville, NC. It was an interesting month. We lived out of a hotel room, sharing the same room with Grant, which had its fair share of challenges. Grant was a trooper, though, and after we figured out if we put the suitcase on the bed as a screen so he couldn't see us, he would go right to sleep at night. Thank goodness. He did develop an ear infection, so we had him on amoxicillan and a few days later, he developed large welts all over his body, each one about a dime in diameter. We took him to an urgent care facility and a lady came in and said, "Oh, look! He's got polka-dots!" The doctor said it could be a reaction to the medication, or we gave him a bite of chocolate cake the night before, so it could have been a food allergy, too, although it didn't look like either one. So he suggested that even though we were up to date on shots, he might have the measles. He put him on steroids and a different antibiotic and the spots went right away, so no measles. Yikes! Grant took his first steps on May 19, 2007! We were so very excited. He's still rather unsure of himself, although he's very sturdy and if he had a bit more confidence could take off any day. He's a good kid - full of life and giggles. We're enjoying him so much right now. Wish you all could see him.
